Bon whatever the time might be at your place! This is going to be super quick because I managed to tucker myself out again and I’m in a food coma. Today’s wandering took me to Notre Dame, The Conciergerie, Shakespeare & Co., and The Louvre. I didn’t get up as early as I wanted, so I couldn’t do the full Rick Steve’s historical Paris walk. I super love Notre Dame. The building is so beautiful and the inside is very peaceful, even with the hordes of tourists.  Too bad the line at Notre Dame to go up was insane, as well as to get into Sainte-Chappelle and I had lunch priorities. So I need to go way early one of these days to make those happen. Speaking of lunch, score on arriving early at Little Breizh. It’s a super tiny craperie that’s also quite cheap. If I came a bit later, it would have been full. My happy tummy and I head to the Louvre after lunch. Talk about being overwhelmed. This time I’m glad to have Rick Steve’s guide, because it skimmed and led me to the big stuff. Just so big! Even then I had to consult the actual museum map because I got turned around a couple of times. It doubles as a maze. Then, a quick trip back to the hotel to freshen up and charge batteries and then it’s dinner time. I had reservations at L’AOC and friends, if you’re ever in Paris, go there. For my bro: I had bone marrow for my appetizer and it was so delicious and I was very sad when it was gone. I also cleaned my plate of duck confit and potatoes. Had some cheese and tea to end. Another happy tummy. On my way back to the hotel, suddenly there was this huge group of rollerbladers on the street, escorted by the police and some skaters had staff t-shirts, so it must be an organized event. It was really cool and insane. I wish I had a better picture then the one I have.

Well, time for bed again. I hope I can get myself up earlyish tomorrow so I can sort of beat the crowd to Versailles. Bon nuit!

EDIT

The breakfast at my hotel felt really lavish, though in reality it was quite modest. In any case, I always started the day with a croissant or pain au chocolat, or both.

The breakfast room is in the basement and is the cutest space with stone walls and arches. You can request a hot beverage of your choice and there’s always scrambled eggs and sausage, croissants, slices of baguettes, slices of bread, cold cuts, cheeses (!), butter, cereals, juices. Everything was quite good and I was always well fed to start my day.

Do you think I have enough pics of Notre Dame? Think again.

I have like a hundred pictures of the inside of Notre Dame. It’s really really beautiful and well preserved inside. There’s these little chapels devoted to different saints and I took a picture of all of them. Here’s a small sample.

Since Notre Dame is a functioning church, there are opportunities to use it as such including confession. The weird thing is that the confession areas were see through so the tourists can see you while you are doing confession. A little awkward.

Lunch! The set menu at Little Breizh includes one savory galette, one sweet crepe and a cup of cider for €9.80. Score!

Ham, egg and cheese galette

Ham, egg and cheese galette. So delish. Crispy edges, soft center. I demolished it.

I went to the Conciergerie next because the line to Sainte-Chapelle was insane. The Conciergerie used to be a prison. The main hall had a special exhibition about Saint Louis. Found these other things there:

Dinner! L’AOC redeemed tenfold the dinner from previous night. The atmosphere was very homey and the service was very attentive and friendly. I enjoyed my overall experience there.

I had a thought before I left for Paris that I should do a pastry of the day since there will be a patisserie at every corner. Here’s the sweet ending to my second day:
